Todorovs theory of narrative

This is a flow chart depicting Todorovs theory of narrative in its simplest form. He stated that all narratives begin with a calm equilibrium which is then disrupted, this set's the basis for the majority of the narrative as the individuals involved seek a resolution to this disruption. Finally a restored order, or new equilibrium is acquired thus bringing the narrative to a close.

This can be applied to the film fish tank that we studied. A 15 year old girl named Mia lives on a council estate with her mother and practices her hobby of dance regularly.  ( Equilibrium )
Her mothers new boyfriend then becomes involved in the narrative and he develops a relationship with Mia (Disruption)
She then decides to move away with her friend Billy ( Resolution )
Which results in her driving to cardiff to start a new life with Billy ( New equilibrium )

How will we apply this to our trailer?

We will seek to emulate Todorovs theory in our trailer by including each of the steps in a chronological order throughout the trailer.
Sara is stuck in a life of drugs and prostitution ( Equilibrium )
One day a client pays for company instead of sex, a friendship is then formed (Disruption)
New friend seeks to save Sara from the life she is living ( Resolution )
Sara leads a normal life thanks to the kindess and friendship of Jacob ( New equilibrium )
